Some Frequently Asked Questions

1."Can't you just tell me who sent me a SecretAdmirer message?"

Can't do it. A key feature of SecretAdmirer.com is that your identity is revealed only when you match with someone. Whether a person has already received a SecretAdmirer message or not, each person who plays has to do exactly the same thing: you have to send a SecretAdmirer message to someone you like. The whole thing wouldn't work if we just told you who sent it.

2. How long does it take to match?

When a match occurs, the match message is sent out immediately. However, if you send your SecretAdmirer message after receiving one, there are two opportunities to match. 1) If you send one to the person who sent to you, you'll get a match. 2) If you send one to a person who didn't send to you, you can still get a match-- if that person, in response, sends you a SecretAdmirer message (and they have two weeks to do so).

3. Do email addresses have to be "consistent"?

Yes. If two people send messages to each other using "inconsistent" email addresses, there won't be a match.

For example, if you send a SecretAdmirer message to someone while using the email address "person@email.com" for yourself, and they respond by sending a SecretAdmirer message to you while using the email address "person123@email.com" for you-- our database won't recognize a match, even if both of those are real email addresses.

That's why you should send your SecretAdmirer messages using the email address for yourself that your admirer would most likely use to send to you. Also, if you receive a SecretAdmirer message at one address, be sure to use that same address to send your SecretAdmirer message(s) in response.

4."What if I can't guess who sent me the SecretAdmirer message?"

A suggestion: don't worry about guessing who sent you the message. Send a SecretAdmirer message to someone (or a few people) you're genuinely interested in. If you send one to the person who sent to you, you'll get a match. But if you send one to someone who didn't send to you, you can still get a match-- if that person, in response, sends one to you.
